Rix McElhinney, Attao secure titles at U23 Greco-Roman Nationals in Geneva, Ohio

Aydin Rix McElhinney wins the 82 kg U23 Greco-Roman title at the 2025 U23 Nationals in Geneva, Ohio.

GENEVA, Ohio – Action in Geneva, Ohio, at the U23 Nationals concluded on Friday evening as ten champions were crowned following a best-of-three championships series in Greco-Roman.

Aydin Rix McElhinney was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. Rix McElhinney, a 2024 U20 World Team member, held a 6-0 record at 77 kg en route to the title. In the final series, Rix McElhinney won both matches over Ethan Barr by technical fall, winning 8-0 in round one and 16-8 in round two.


Two-time age-group World bronze medalist and Senior National Team member Aden Attao claimed the title at 130 kg. In round one, Attao used a 9-1 technical fall to take a 1-0 series lead over 2024 U23 World Team member and two-time U23 Pan American Champion Keith Miley. Leading the match 7-1, Miley received a caution which gave Attao two points to end the match.


Round two saw Miley jump to a 4-0 lead early, but Attao controlled the rest of the match, scoring 13 unanswered points for a 13-4 technical fall, and the National title.


2025 U23 Pan American Championships gold medalist Adrian Artsisheuskiy of New York Athletic Club secured the title at 82 kg, defeating Ethan Wilson of Dragon Wrestling Club in two matches. Artsisheuskiy claimed a series lead with a hard-fought 15-6 technical fall, before shutting Wilson out in round two, 9-0. Artsisheuskiy was the runner-up at this event last year.


2024 Senior World Team Trials runner-up Kenneth Crosby of Northern Michigan picked up the title at 55 kg, defeating William Jakeway of Sons of Thunder Wrestling in two matches. Crosby won both matches 8-0.


Brennan Van Hoecke of Arkansas RTC , a 2018 U15 Pan American Championships gold medalist in both styles, did not concede a single point throughout the tournament, collecting five shutout technical falls. In the championship series, Van Hoecke spent just 1:46 on the mat between two matches.


It was a battle between twin brothers Keenan and Kennedy Wyatt for the U23 Nationals title at 87 kg. Keenan Wyatt won in two matches, pinning Kennedy early in the second period, and claiming an 8-0 technical fall in round two.


2024 Bill Farrell Memorial International champion Joseph Couch of West Point Wrestling Club won his series in two, defeating James Joplin of NC Gladiators. Couch secured round one with a 10-2 technical fall, before earning the series win with an 8-0 technical fall in round two.


Rhett Peak of NYAC stifled 2024 U23 National champion Jakason Burks of MWC Wrestling Academy in the championship series at 60 kg. Peak secured a 5-1 decision in round one, scoring all five points in the second period. Round two saw Peak pull out a close 4-3 decision, throwing Burks for 4 in the first period and fighting off a late offensive surge from Burks for the win.


Max Ramberg of Viking RTC, a 2022 Junior National champion and two-time U20 Greco-Roman World Team Trials challenge tournament runner-up, was victorious at 97 kg over Jesse Perez of Life U Club Lucha Wrestling. Ramberg fired off a takedown and three turns to build his score in a 12-6 round one decision. In the second round, Ramberg opened the scoring with a four-point throw and closed it out in 66 seconds, 8-0.


Colton Parduhn of Interior Grappling Academy won his best-of-three series at 72 kg. Parduhn defeated Dylan Whitt of Viking Wrestling Club, 3-2 in round one and 8-0 in round two.


The 2025 U23 Nationals and U20 World Team Trials continue on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. ET with men’s freestyle action.
