Six U.S. athletes to compete in Pat Shaw Memorial International Cup in Guatemala, May 31-June 1

A small delegation of U.S. age-group athletes, as well as a Senior wrestler, will compete in the Pat Shaw Memorial International Cup, held at the Sports Center Gymnasium “Erick Barrondo” in Guatemala City, Guatemala, May 31-June 1.
The age-group athletes train with the Gladiator Wrestling Club of Homestead, Fla., and will feature four boys and one girl. There are four athletes in the U15 age division and one in the U17 age division. The boys will wrestle in both freestyle and Greco-Roman, while the girl is competing in women’s freestyle
Also wrestling will be Senior wrestler Ruben Calderon of Texas, who will wrestle in both freestyle and Greco-Roman in Guatemala. Calderon wrestled in both styles at the 2025 CLAW U.S. Open, placing fifth in Greco-Roman. He was also on the U.S. team at the Senior Beach World Series Monterrey in Mexico earlier this month.
The U15 and U20 age groups will compete on Saturday in all styles, while the U17 and Senior age groups will wrestle on Sunday.
The event is held in memory of wrestling leader Pat Shaw of the United States, who introduced wrestling in Guatemala in 1947, when he was hired by the Guatemala Olympic Committee to prepare their wrestling team for the Central American and Carribbean Games in Guatemala in 1950.
