Sorrow, Hayden among double champions at Central Regional Championships

Nicholas Sorrow wrestles in the U17 Greco-Roman World Team Trials at the 2025 CLAW U.S. Open in Las Vegas, Nevada.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The USA Wrestling Regional Championships continued with the Central Regional Championships, held at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky.


Double champions in the Junior Boys division were Cameron Schofield of Franklin Wrestling Club at 100 pounds, Vincent DeMarco of Askren Wrestling Academy at 106 pounds, Nicholas Sorrow of Simmons Academy of Wrestling at 132 pounds, and Jimmy Mastny of Relentless Training Center at 190 pounds.


In the Junior Girls division, there were two double champions, winning titles in both freestyle and Greco-Roman – Aubrie Pehrson of Nebraska Wrestling Academy at 135 pounds and Maddie Hayden of Michigan Revolution Wrestling Club at 190 pounds.


Six athletes doubled up on titles in the 16U Boys division – Cole Speer of Seasons Freestyle Club at 126 pounds, Jamison Gregory of Simmons Academy of Wrestling at 132 pounds, Peyton Hornsby of Contenders Wrestling Academy at 144 pounds, Colin Rutlin of Team Missouri Select at 150 pounds, Tommy Rowlands of Ohio Crazy Goats Wrestling at 157 pounds, and Camden Williams of Whiteland Wrestling Club at 215 pounds.


Doubling up on titles in both freestyle and Greco-Roman in the 16U Girls division were Kiera Depinet of The Barn Athletic Club LLC at 140 pounds and Lyla Hensen of Michigan Revolution Wrestling Club at 190 pounds.


The top six boys and girls in each weight class of the Junior and 16U divisions have qualified for their respective state teams at the 2025 USMC Junior and 16U Nationals in Fargo, N.D.


Additionally, there were 14U, 12U, 10U and 8U tournaments held in freestyle and Greco-Roman for boys and girls divisions.
