A team of six experienced U.S. Beach wrestling athletes will compete at the first stop of the 2025 UWW Beach World Series, when Beach World Series Monterrey is held at Canchas Voleibol Playa CARE in Monterrey, Mexico, May 12-13.

Leading the U.S. delegation is two-time Beach World champion Eliana Bommarito, who is entered in the women’s Over 70 kg weight class. Bommarito won her World titles in 2023 and 2024, after scoring the most points in her weight class during the Beach World Series season. She is the only U.S. Senior Beach athlete to win a World title.

During the last two years, Bommarito has won six gold medals at individual Beach World Series events, four in 2024 and two in 2023. She has also won two age-group Beach World Championships medals, a U20 World gold in 2023 and a U20 silver in 2024.

Also competing for the USA is 2024 Beach World bronze medalist Kyle Ferriter, who is entered in the men’s Over 90 kg weight class. Ferriter was third in points scored at his weight class in last year’s Beach World Series standings. He also won a bronze medal at the Beach World Series Saint Laurent du Var in France last season.

Competing at 70 kg in men’s Beach wrestling is Justin Benjamin, who became the first U.S. man to win an individual Beach World Series event, when he won gold at Beach World Series Acapulco in Mexico in 2024. Benjamin barely missed winning a Beach World medal last year, placing fourth in the standings at 70 kg in 2024.

Three other men’s Beach wrestlers with previous Beach World Series experience will be attempting to win their first career Beach World Series medal, Bryan Coll (70 kg), Ruben Calderon (70 kg) and Rodrick Love (80 kg). In last year’s Beach World Series standings, Calderon finished at No. 7, Coll was No. 8 and Love was No. 10 at their weight class.

Based upon the 2025 U.S. Beach Wrestling Team Procedures, this is a qualifying event for the U.S. Beach Team which will compete at the 2025 Beach World Series Final in Alexandria, Egypt, October 18-19. Any U.S. athlete who places in the top four of their weight class at the Beach World Series Monterrey will secure a berth on the 2025 U.S. Team for the Beach World Series Final.
