Pennsylvania defeats Wisconsin, 51-22 to win 16U Greco-Roman National Duals title

Team Pennsylvania wins the 2025 16U National Duals title in Greco-Roman.
HERRIMAN, Utah – Pennsylvania won the team title at the 16U National Duals in Greco-Roman, roaring to a 51-22 victory over Wisconsin. The 16U National Greco-Roman Duals concluded on Thursday afternoon at Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman, Utah.
Pennsylvania secured three-straight victories to open the dual, taking a 12-2 lead over Wisconsin. Caden Yanarella (150), James Whitbread (157) and Chaney Lewis Jr. (165) earned technical falls to put Pennsylvania ahead early.
The next three matches went back and forth, leading to Wisconsin putting up eight team points. Wisconsin’s Logan Ellwanger (175) pulled ahead of Sam Harrington in a 7-6 decision for the first win of the dual, but Pennsylvania’s Mason Chamberlain (190) pinned Reed Falk at 49 seconds to move Pennsylvania’s lead to 13 points.
At 215 pounds, Wisconsin’s Elliot Havlish pinned John Montgomery in 32 seconds, chopping at Pennsylvania’s lead. The next five matches went in Pennsylvania’s favor, with wins from Kevin Oswalt (285), Leo Murillo (88), Riley Crandall (94) and Jack Stonebraker (100). Evan Cies (106) won by forfeit, as Pennsylvania led 36-12 with just six matches remaining.
Wisconsin’s Lincoln Swick picked up a huge win via technical fall for four points over Arav Pandey at 113 pounds. Pennsylvania controlled the dual in the final few matches, as Mateo Gallegos (120), Jordan Manyette (126), Deklan Barr (132) and Max Firestine (144) earned victories.
California pulled ahead of Illinois to place third, 40-33. Seven of California’s wins were bonus point victories, with Gregory Torosian (157), Noah Larios (285), Aiden Rosewarne (88), Carson Wyatt (94), Thiago Silva (106), Lytning Hazen (113) and Javian Palomino (144) contributing to the score.
Placing fifth in the Gold/Silver pool was Minnesota Blue, with a dominant 59-20 win over Indiana. Washington defeated Utah Gold, 41-36, to finish seventh in Greco-Roman action on Thursday afternoon. Washington had nine wins while Utah Gold had eight wins in an exciting seventh-place dual.
Competition also completed in the Bronze/Copper pool, the Red/Blue pool, the Green Pool and the Yellow Pool.
The tournament continues on Friday and Saturday with the men’s freestyle competition.
