Stikkelman, Bommarito, Lopez, Carreon win Senior women’s titles at California Beach Nationals

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – A pair of past U.S. Beach Nationals champions, Breanna Stikkelman of California (60 kg) and Eliana Bommarito of the Michigan Revolution WC (Over 70 kg) were among the individual Senior Women’s champions at the California Beach Nationals on Saturday.

Stikkelman, who won U.S. Beach National titles in 2021 and 2024, won the 60 kg title at the California Nationals title with a two-match sweep over Preciosa Moreno of the Warhammer WC. Stikkelman won the first match by fall with a three-point throw, then added a 3-0 decision to win bout two.

Stikkelman has been a fixture in USA Wrestling’s Associated Styles program, winning Grappling World titles and multiple World medals.

Bommarito, who is the only U.S. athlete to win a Senior Beach World title, scored a 2-0 record in her round robin. In the deciding match, Bommarito had a competitive battle with Kalila Shrive of the Menlo Wrestling Club. Both athletes had impressive scoring moves, with Bommarito securing a 3-1 decision.

Shrive competes for Menlo College, while Bommarito, who won two NJCAA national titles for Indian Hills CC, will attend King University this year. Bommarito won U.S. Beach Nationals titles in 2023 and 2024.

Sweeping her best-of-three series at 70 kg was Alexandra Lopez of Surfside X Wrestling, who scored a pair of victories over Sylvia Pierce of the Natural Athlete WC. Lopez scored a three-point throw to win the first match, 3-0, then added another 3-0 win in bout two.

Valerie Carreon of Texas won the 50 kg title uncontested. Carreon was a runner-up in the 2024 U.S. Beach Nationals.

The California Beach Nationals is among the events which is part of the qualifying process for U.S. Senior Beach teams on the World and Pan American levels.

The Senior division headlined a large and growing California Beach Nationals, which had almost 300 entries in a number of age-divisions.
