Looking for a great late summer wrestling competition, and a chance to test yourself against top athletes from across the nation? Join us on the Pacific Ocean in world-famous Huntington Beach, California for the 2025 California Beach Nationals, August 15-16.

There will be national competition in 10 age divisions, from 8U up to Masters, with tournaments for boys and girls, as well as men and women. So far, athletes from 15 different states have already registered.

Register for California Beach Nationals

In recent years, USA Wrestling has hosted two national championship tournaments in Beach Wrestling, one on the East Coast in North Carolina and the other on the West Coast in California. Every other year, the U.S. Beach Nationals is alternated between the nation’s two coastlines.

This year, the U.S. Beach Nationals were held in North Carolina in May, so the other big National Beach Championships on the West Coast is the California Beach Nationals in August.

The 2025 California Beach Nationals is one of the qualifying events for international competition at the Senior level, as well as the age-group levels.

2025 Beach Wrestling Teams Procedures

International athletes are eligible in all age group divisions, excluding the U17, U20 and Senior age group divisions for men and women.

Two-time Senior Beach World champion Eliana Bommarito of Michigan is among the athletes who have pre-registered for the event.

On Friday, August 15, an optional weigh-in for all divisions (except for Senior, U17 and U20) will be held at Zachs By The Beach, starting at 6:30 p.m. The other weigh-in option for all divisions is set for Saturday, August 16th starting at 9:00 a.m. on Huntington Beach. Competition is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, and will continue through conclusion.

The rules of Beach wrestling are simple. Each match is one period of three minutes in length. The first wrestler to three points wins the match. Athletes can score one point for a takedown and one point for a step out. A throw that takes an athlete directly to exposure is worth three points, and ends the match. If you haven’t done Beach Wrestling, now is a perfect time to give it a try.
