Dustin Plott receives bronze medal at the Waclaw Ziolkowski Memorial.
WARSAW, Poland – The first day of men’s freestyle action at the 2025 Waclaw Ziolkowski Memorial saw American Dustin Plott secure a bronze medal at 92 kg.
Plott, who was the lone U.S. men’s freestyle athlete to compete on Saturday, posted a 3-1 record with a pair of technical falls during his tournament. He was dominant in the bronze medal match against Wiktor Hasa of Poland, with his takedowns and leg lace combos leading to a 12-1 technical fall.
The Oklahoma State All-American and past NCAA finalist opened the day with decisive wins over Filip Rogut of Poland and Luza Tsertsvadze of Georgia. He came up short to Ukraine’s Ivan Chornohuz, 9-6, in his semifinal. Chornohuz was a U20 European bronze medalist in 2023.
Plott was a bronze medalist at this event two years ago. He was also a member of the 2023 U23 World Team.
Six Americans, including 2023 World champion Vito Arujau, are expected to take the mats in Poland tomorrow on the final day of wrestling at the Waclaw Ziolkowski Memorial. The tournament is set to begin at 11 a.m. local time. Warsaw, Poland, is located six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time.
