CAIRO – U.S. Greco-Roman athlete Courtney Freeman finished with the 130 kg silver medal at the Ibrahim Moustafa International held in Cairo, Egypt, on Saturday.
Freeman posted a 1-1 record against international competition in a three-man round-robin bracket. He dropped match one against eventual gold medalist Ali Al Sharuee of Iraq, 3-1. Freeman rebounded with a decisive pin against 2024 U20 African champion Omar Elkeliny of Egypt in 2:58.
The U.S. Marine Corps athlete was the lone American to compete at the event. Freeman is fresh off a silver medal performance at the Bill Farrell Memorial International. He qualified to compete at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials earlier this year.
