Harrill named 16U Outstanding Wrestler at Girls Folkstyle Nationals, nationally ranked Utterback, Slade among champions

OMAHA, Neb. – There was a strong field of 16U girls competing for national titles and All-American honors today at the USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals.

Kaylin Harrill of Nebraska, an eighth grader ranked No. 24 in the nation, was named Outstanding Wrestler after capturing the 117-pound title. Harrill pined Zorina Johnson of Oregon in the finals in 5:40. She scored three falls and a technical fall on the way to the title.


A pair of nationally ranked girls from Iowa came home with titles, national No. 5 Skylar Slade at 152 pounds and national No. 7 Reanah Utterback at 106. Slade, who was an Iowa state champion this year, won all four of her matches by pin. Utterback pinned Utah 1A/2A state champion Julia Kay in the finals in 1:34.


A pair of Massachusetts wrestlers won titles, state champion Sarah McLaughlin at 112 and Corynne McNulty at 127. McLaughlin beat Indiana state runner-up Kyla Johnson in the finals, 6-5. McNulty stopped Iowa state champion Mackenzie Childers in sudden victory, 9-7.


Another state champions who won an individual titles was Kendall Moe of Indiana (94).


The 180 pound champion was Ella Brown of Iowa, who pinned national No. 27 Taylor Waddy of Virginia in the finals.


Other individual champions were Lola Gonzales of California (94), Riley Hanrahan of Wisconsin (122), Lilliana Banks of Wisconsin (132), Belicia Manuel of Michigan (138), Adelaida Fernandez of California (144), Autumn Williams of Illinois (164) and Makayla Vasser of Nebraska (200).


Youth divisions were also held today, with champions crowned at the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U levels (results will be posted separately). The Junior division begins today, and will be completed on Sunday. Duals will be held for 16U/Junior, as well as 12U/14U on Sunday.


This event is a leg in the USA Wrestling Girls Triple Crown.
