Updated: Men’s freestyle finals and final three women’s freestyle finals set at Senior Nationals

FORT WORTH, Texas - The finals have been set for the last day of the Senior Nationals on Sunday, which will feature all six men’s freestyle weight classes, as well as the three highest women’s freestyle weight classes.

By winning their semifinal matches, the six finalist women have clinched a berth in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Wrestling at Penn State, April 19-20. The top five finishers in each weight class punch their ticket to Penn State.  

In men’s freestyle, five of the six No. 1 seeds were able to advance to the championship finals. The weight where that did not occur was at 65 kg, where No. 5 seed and college star Beau Bartlett knocked off No. 1 seed Joey McKenna, 5-5. Bartlett will face the No. 3 seed and 2023 NCAA champion Andrew Alirez, who stopped No. 2 seed Alec Pantaleo, 4-3.

The No. 1 seeds in men’s freestyle who advanced were Spencer Lee at 57 kg, Quincy Monday at 74 kg, Mark Hall at 86 kg, Kollin Moore at 97 kg and Dom Bradley at 125 kg.

Both high school stars who reached the semifinals in men’s freestyle were defeated. No. 2 seed Nico Megaludis scored a 10-0 technical fall over age-group World champion Luke Lilledahl, the No. 3 seed at 57 kg. Top seed Mark Hall beat high school star Connor Mirasola, 9-2 at 86 kg.

In women’s freestyle, 2019 World champion Jacarra Winchester continued her run through 62 kg, scoring a 10-0 technical fall in the semifinals over No. 4 seed SaVannah Cosme. Winchester will battle No. 3 seed Ashlynn Ortega in the finals. Winchester normally competes at 55 kg but wrestled in the 2020 Olympics at 53 kg.

No. 4 seed Marlynne Deede, a 2023 NCWWC champion,, knocked off No. 1 seed Skylar Grote, 5-3 in the 76 kg semifinals. Deede will battle No. 2 seed Precious Wieser in the finals.

Two-time World bronze medalist Mallory Velte continued her run through 68 kg, reaching the finals, where she will battle No. 6 seed Cheyenne Bowman in the finals.

Of those who reached the finals, four had already qualified for the Olympic Trials prior to the Senior Nationals, Spencer Lee (MFS-57kg), Christian Lance (MFS-125 kg), Jacarra Winchester (WFS 62 kg) and Mallory Velte (WFS 68 kg).

The championship finals in men’s freestyle and the final three women’s freestyle weight classes will be on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Central time, live on FloWrestling.
