Salyna Shotwell put together an impressive run at the UWW Junior Nationals in November, earning a runner-up finish. To reach the finals, she recorded three pins and a technical fall. Her performance is especially impressive given the level of competition she faced. In the quarterfinals, Shotwell pinned Samara Chavez, currently the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the Girls High School rankings at 112 pounds. In the semifinals, she followed it up with a pin over Ava Bayless, who is No. 6 at 117 pounds. Shotwell is currently slotted one spot ahead of Bayless as No. 5 at 117 pounds.
