BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team ended its inaugural regular season on a high note as it defeated Penn State-Behrend, 30-14, at the KOA Arena in the first NCAA Division III home dual meet in program history.
The victory avenges the Nov. 2 defeat at Penn State-Behrend in the program's first-ever competition.
"It was a great match today," Head Coach Colin Johnston said of the victory -- which came on his birthday. "Everybody went out and did their job and we came out on top. I think it shows a lot of improvement from the last time we wrestled them and I've seen a lot of good stuff. I'm happy with the results and the guys did a great job."
Behrend found the win in the 125 lb. match. Then first two Pitt-Bradford victories of the day came from Penn State-Behrend no entries. Kendric Moore was credited with the 133 lb. win and Colton Davis was credited with the 141 lb. victory.
After a Penn State-Behrend win in the 149 lb. bout, Pitt-Bradford got three-straight victories From Victor Elias (157 lb.), Daniel Shields (165 lb.) and Nathan Powley (174 lb.) to take a commanding victory.
Elias and Powley's victories came by way of a pin.
Two more Behrend wins brought the meet to the 285 lb. bout where Same Colebert took a 6-1 decision to secure the victory.
Wednesday's action concluded the 2018-19 regular season. Pitt-Bradford will now prepare for the NCAA Southeast Regional in Williamsport, Pa., on Feb. 22 and 23.
