EAP wrestlers Greenwood, Shannon, Tagg, Brooks, Kerkvliet have college signings at Olympic Training Center

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Five of the men’s freestyle athletes in USA Wrestling’s Elite Accelerator Program had a college signing ceremony today outside the Athletes Center at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) on Wednesday.
Each of these athletes are among the top age-group athletes in the nation, and are currently resident athletes in men’s freestyle at the USOTC. All five signed with NCAA Div. I programs today.
As depicted in the photo above, here are the signees and their college choices:
- Job Greenwood of Colorado – University of Wyoming
- D.J. Shannon of Missouri – University of Illinois
- Gabriel Tagg of Ohio – University of North Carolina
- Aaron Brooks of Maryland – Penn State University
- Greg Kerkvliet of Minnesota – Ohio State University
This past summer, Brooks was a Junior World silver medalist and Kervliet was a Cadet World silver medalist. In 2017, both Brooks and Kerkvliet were Cadet World champions.
All five of these athletes will attend college in the 2019-2020 season. They will continue their freestyle wrestling training at the Bill Farrell Wrestling Center at the U.S. Olympic Training Center throughout the 2018-19 year.
National Freestyle Developmental Coach Kevin Jackson oversees the training for these elite young athletes, who also work with National Freestyle Coach Bill Zadick, Manager of Freestyle Program Joe Russell and other coaches through the EAP program.
The EAP program, which is supported by USA Wrestling and the U.S. Olympic Committee, also included top young wrestlers in women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman.
