Troy Heilmann of North Carolina has had a breakout season in his final collegiate run, something that almost didn't happen.
After a rough junior season, Heilmann, who graduated last year, contemplated not returning to the mat. Thanks to his coaches, teammates and the belief system he had built within himself, Heilmann suited up for the Tar Heels for one final season.
He ended his conference career with an ACC individual championship at 149 pounds, defeating Virginia Tech's Ryan Blees in the finals and earning a bid to next week's NCAA Championships in Cleveland, Ohio.
