Herb House named USA Wrestling Greco-Roman Coach of the Year

Herb House (center) received the Greco-Roman Coach of the Year award from National Greco-Roman Coach Matt Lindland and USA Wrestling Executive Director Rich Bender during the Greco-Roman World Team Trials in Tulsa.
Herb House (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC/OTC) has been named 2017 Greco-Roman Coach of the Year by USA Wrestling. It is the first time in his career that House has won this prestigious honor.
House served as an official 2017 U.S. World Team Coach, helping lead the U.S. team at the 2017 World Championships in Paris, France. He has also served on the staff for Greco-Roman Team USA at other major events, including the 2015 and 2016 World Championships and the 2016 Olympic Games.
He also volunteers to coach on a regular basis at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, working with the USOTC resident Greco-Roman athletes, and helping at the many camps held there, where top Greco-Roman athletes across the nation come to Colorado Springs for training opportunities.
House has also served as a personal coach for 2017 Junior World champion Kamal Bey and 2016 Junior World bronze medalist and 2017 Senior World Team member G’Angelo Hancock.
He serves as a coach for the New York Athletic Club, which was the Div. I team champions in Greco-Roman at the December 2016 U.S. Open, and most recently won the Div. I team title at the 2018 U.S. Open.
House has coached numerous international tour teams for the USA, including the 2014 Vantaa Cup in Finland, the 2016 World Club Cup in Hungary and 2016 Pan-American Olympic Qualifier in Texas.
House was also an assistant coach at Coronado High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he helped lead the squad to its first team state title in school history in 2011.
As an athlete, House was a successful Greco-Roman wrestler. In 1992, he won a Junior World bronze medal. On the Senior level, he won a bronze at the 1993 Pan American Championships. In 1997, he took fourth at the CISM Military World Championships. He competed for the U.S. Army WCAP program.
On the domestic level, House won four University National titles, two Armed Forces titles and secured six top-five finishes at the U.S. Open. He is originally from Illinois, where he was successful in Greco-Roman in USA Wrestling’s age-group programs.
Professionally, House serves as the COO of Global Screening Solutions, whose headquarters are based in Castle Rock, Colo.
