EDINBORO, Pa. - Programs from across the nation sent wrestlers to one of the last big Open tournaments of the season, as the Edinboro Open was hosted on Saturday.

Champions came from eight different programs, with two nationally respected teams earning a pair of champions, Ohio State and Central Michigan.

Individual champions for Ohio State were Kaleb Romero (174) and Gary Traub (285). Romero won his finals match by medical forfeit against Edinboro’s Ty Schoffstall. Traub won his championship match by injury default over Drexel’s Joey Goodhart in 1:30.

Central Michigan had a pair of champions in Deven Perez (133) and Colin Heffernan (157). Perez pinned Brandon Paetzell of Lehigh in 6:53 in the finals. Heffernan, a senior who missed almost two months with an injury and just returned a week ago, scored a 5-4 decision over Luke Weiland of Army West Point.
