For the second straight year, USA Wrestling compiled a Masters Ironman standings, which was completed with the 2018 international season in the books.

Since the last ranking was published, United World Wrestling held Veterans World Championships in the Olympic styles and Grappling. A new event was also hosted by USA Wrestling, the Masters F&G World Championships in the Olympic styles.

Winning the 2018 Masters Ironman Award for the 2017 season is Gabe Beauperthuy of Colorado Springs, Colo. with 70 points. Placing second was Travis Clark of Fort Worth, Texas with 54 points. Third place went to Jeff Anderson of Zeeland, Mich., who finished with 50 points.

Beauperthuy won Veterans World titles in both Gi and No-Gi Grappling in Astana, Kazakhstan. He also won three U.S. Masters National titles, in freestyle, Greco-Roman and Beach wrestling.

Clark was also a double Veterans World champion in Grappling, getting gold medals in both Gi and No-Gi. He was a Masters National champion in Greco-Roman and placed third in freestyle.

Anderson was the 2017 Masters Ironman Award winner and placed third this year. He was a Veterans Grappling World champion in the Gi discipline. He also won three Masters National titles in 2018, in folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman.

Placing fourth with 38 points was Rudy James of St. Paul, Minn. James won a silver medal in freestyle at the Veterans World Championships in Skopje, Macedonia. He also was a Masters national champion in folkstyle, and won Masters national silver medals in freestyle and Greco-Roman.

Fifth place went to Kevin Pine of Las Vegas, Nev. Pine was a Veterans World freestyle champion this year. He was also a Veterans Nationals champion in freestyle and second in Greco-Roman.

For World Championships events, athletes score 20 points for gold, 14 points for silver, eight points for bronze and two points for 4th/5th place.

For National Championships, athletes score 10 points for gold, seven points for silver, four points for bronze and one point for fourth place.

USA Wrestling’s Associated Styles Committee created the Masters Ironman award program. The committee oversees programs in Grappling, Beach Wrestling, Belt Wrestling, Pahlavani Wrestling, Pankration, as well as Masters wrestling in all styles.

The committee decided to award the national championship points structure to the new Masters F&G World Championships held in Las Vegas this year, based upon the number of entries and the number of international competitors this year.

This year, UWW held Veterans World Championships in Olympic wrestling (freestyle and Greco-Roman), Grappling (No-Gi and Gi) and Pankration.

Also this year, USA Wrestling held Masters National Championships in Olympic wrestling (freestyle and Greco-Roman), folkstyle wrestling and Beach Wrestling.
