The final match of the entire 2017 NWCA All-Star Classic at Princeton was the 174 pound battle between 2017 NCAA champion Mark Hall of Penn State and Zahid Valencia of Arizona State, who was third in the 2017 NCAAs. In the 2017 NCAA semifinals, Hall beat Valencia, 4-3. They were teammates on the 2017 Junior World Team in freestyle this summer, with Hall winning gold at 74 kg and Valencia winning silver at 84 kg. This All-Star Classic showdown was also very close, with the score tied 1-1 in the third period. Valencia came through with a late takedown to secure a 3-2 victory. Valencia talked about his big win to kick off the 2017-18 season. Home page photo of Zahid Valencia and Mark Hall from the All-Star Classic by Juan Garcia.
