The New York Athletic Club to host event honoring 1980 Olympian, the legendary Gene Mills

The New York Athletic Club Wrestling Club has organized a social for wrestling fans to honor wrestling legend Gene Mills. The social is set to take place at the New York Athletic Club in New York City, Saturday, May 20. Join NYAC for a night filled with memories, food, and drinks.


Mills had an exceptional wrestling career with a total of 1,356 wins and only 46 losses. He dominated his opponents by earning 886 falls within his career.


He was Syracuse University’s first four-time All American and two-time NCAA Champion during his time there.


Millls is a three-time World Cup champion along with being the 1980 World Super Champion and Outstanding Wrestler. He holds many prestigious wins in his career. He is a Distinguished Member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Okla.


Mills was a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team, which did not compete in the 1980 Moscow Olympics due to the U.S. government boycott of the Games.


He has become one of the nation’s most respected prep coaches, leading a strong team at Phoenix High School in upstate New York.
