Four returning champions reach finals at USMC Girls Junior Folkstyle Nationals in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Finals set for the 2017 U.S. Marines Corps Girls Junior Folkstyle National Championships at the Cox Convention Center.
Four returning champions have won their semifinal matches and will compete in the gold-medal finals: Macey Kilty of Wisconsin at 117 pounds, Gracie Figueroa of California at 122 pounds, Emma Bruntil of Washington at 132 pounds and Alexandria Liles of Texas at 138 pounds
Kilty will be going for her second straight double title at the Girls Folkstyle Nationals. In 2016, Kilty won both the Cadet and Junior divisions at this tournament. Kilty was a Cadet Folkstyle National champion yesterday and will attempt to win a double title tonight.
Liles will be going for her third straight Junior Folkstyle title, and her sixth straight age-group USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle National gold medal. She will battle 2016 Cadet World bronze medalist Alara Boyd of CIA club of Indiana in the championship finals.
Two returning champions were defeated in the semifinal round.
Returning champion Katyln Pizzo of Michigan was defeated at 100 pound semifinals by Nicole Moore of Team Kansas. Moore will battle 2017 Cadet National Folkstyle champion Emily Shilson of the Minnesota Storm in the gold medal finals.
Returning champion Marissa Patterson of Kansas fell in the 180 pound semifinals when she was pinned by unattached Alexandra Castillo.
Four returning runners-up are also in the finals, McKayla Campbell of Ohio at 106, Autumn Gordon of Ohio at 112, Alyvia Fiske of California at 164 and Corey Burton of California at 200.
Kilty, Figueroa, Liles, Burton and Jayden Laurent of Wisconsin (144) are the 2016 Cadet National Folkstyle champions who are in the finals.
Kilty and Shilson are joined by two other 2017 Cadet National Folkstyle champions who have also reached the Junior finals, Emily Shilson of the Minnesota Storm at 100 pounds and Kiana Pugh of Wisconsin at 152 pounds.
All of the third, fifth and seventh place matches will be finished this afternoon. The gold-medal finals will be held at 7:00 p.m., and will be broadcast live on Flowrestling.
There was a record 455 entries in this year’s Junior division, an increase of 71 competitors from last year’s previous record.
