USA Wrestling has created the Grand Event in the city that never sleeps. The 2017 U.S. Open Championships has something for everyone.


This event is billed as “All Ages, All Styles” offering athletes a chance to compete in Men’s Freestyle, Women’s Freestyle, Greco-Roman, Grappling and Folkstyle. These are future World and Olympic Team Athletes.


The registration fees for the tournaments are significantly reduced for those athletes staying in the South Point Hotel and resort.

The 17-20 year olds will have a chance to compete in Men’s Freestyle and Greco-Roman at the Junior National Championships – UWW Age Group. In Greco-Roman, this is the event which sets the U.S. Team for the UWW Junior World Championships in Finland in August. In freestyle, this is the major qualifying event for the UWW Junior World Team Trials in Lincoln, Neb. in June.


The Western Junior Regional offers athletes in 9th through 12th grades a chance to compete against some of the best High School wrestlers in the country. It offers both men and women an opportunity to compete in Men’s Freestyle, Women’s Freestyle and Greco-Roman. Athletes who place at this event are often successful later in the summer at the Junior and Cadet National Championships.


The Masters National Championships in freestyle and Greco-Roman offers athletes who are past the age of 25 years old a chance to continue their inner warrior and show people they still have what it takes to win the coveted USA Wrestling “Stop Sign.”


The U.S. Grappling World Team Trials will feature the nation’s best men and women Grapplers, with winners earning a spot on the U.S. Grappling World Team which will compete at the Grappling World Championships in Azerbaijan in October.


On the Senior level are the U.S. Greco-Roman World Team Trials and the U.S. Women’s World Team Trials. Winners of this event will qualify to represent the United States at the 2017 World Wrestling Championships in France.


Also, the U.S. Open in men’s freestyle will be held, the annual National Championships for Senior freestylers, which is the major qualifying event for the Freestyle World Team in Lincoln, Neb. in June.


Youth from 5 to 16 years old have a chance to wrestle in Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman in a big tournament featuring athletes from across the country. Click here for the Vegas Kids/Cadet page.
