Kids and Cadet Open set for Las Vegas alongside Open Championships, April 25-29

The 2017 Open Wrestling Championships is slated to take place April 25-29 at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev. This event, billed as “All Ages, All Styles,” offers competitions in men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman over the course of the weekend, along with folkstyle for youth wrestlers.

This is the fourth year running that the U.S. Kids and Cadet Open will be included the traditional Open. The highly popular tournament allows younger wrestlers the chance to compete against athletes from many states in a quality tournament in freestyle, Greco-Roman, and folkstyle. The competition will be open to youth ages 7 to 16.

Eligible to return to this year’s tournament are five Triple Crown winners in a variety of youth divisions. Among them is 2016 Cadet National Greco-Roman champion Dawon Andrews (Stafford Bulldogs) at the 137-151 pound weight class.

The youngest of the Triple Crown winners is Adriana Daoang (808 Rams-DS Elite) at 45 pounds in the Bantam division. Daoang is returning from 2016 to compete in the Intermediate division this year. He is the only Triple Crown winner that is registered and expected to wrestle in this year’s Open.

Two Novice Triple Crown winners eligible to return to this year's competition are Danny DePaulo (Colville USA Wrestling) in the 101-110 weight class and Joshua McCain (Bear WC) at 140+ pounds.

A Triple Crown winner in the Intermediate division at 103 pounds is Kayden Cartee (Genesis).

Along with the five Triple Crown winners there are 40 Double Title winners eligible to compete in this years competition. Among the double title winner is 2016 Cadet National champion at 160 pounds James Rogers (North County Bobcats).

Online cost of registration for the Kids and Cadet division is $35 per style with South Point confirmation code and $55 per style without The Grandview confirmation code.
