Manheim, Pa. - No. 3 N.C. State ran its record to 21-0, Oklahoma State won in Bedlam and in Ithaca, N.Y., while top-ranked Penn State continued its undefeated run by blasting Big Ten foe and No. 9 Ohio State in top matches from last weekend’s NCAA Division I college wrestling action.

By virtue of conference season-ending wins, the Cowboys (Big 12), Missouri (MAC) and Lehigh (EIWA) claimed the dual meet championships of their respective conferences to clinch berths in the 2016 NWCA Division I National Championship Duals Series presented by the United States Marine Corps and Titan Mercury Wrestling Club.

Meanwhile, No. 2 Iowa, also undefeated at 15-0, secured at least a share of the Big Ten crown by closing its conference season at 9-0 following a 45-0 blanking of Indiana.

Appalachian State did its best and “upset” No. 25 Chattanooga 22-15 to force a three-way tie with Gardner-Webb for the Southern Conference dual meet championship. The loss ended Chattanooga’s 27-match SoCon win streak which dated back to 2012. Chattanooga can still clinch a share of the SoCon title with a win at The Citadel on Feb. 12. The Mountaineers won six of 10 bouts and led from start to finish.

“I’m really proud of the heart and fight our guys showed tonight,” App State coach JohnMark Bentley said following the win. “It was a great team effort!”

App State set itself up for a chance at a share of the Southern Conference regular season title when VMI visits Boone for a 6:30 p.m. match on Thursday.

No. 3 N.C. State defeated Nebraska at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb., coming back from a 6-0 deficit after the first two bouts (184, 197) before two-time NCAA champion and top-ranked 285-pound Nick Gwiazdowski won by injury default over No. 18 Collin Jensen. The Wolfpack’s Sean Fausz upset No. 9 Tim Lambert for a 9-6 team lead, but 13th-ranked Eric Montoya tied it with a decision over Jamal Morris at 133. Fifth-ranked Tommy Gantt (157) majored No. 19 Tyler Berger to put the Wolfpack on top to stay. No. 4 Max Rohskopf secured the win with 4-1 decision over No 14 Austin Wilson.

No. 4 Oklahoma State (10-2) picked up a pair of dominating wins, locking up the Big 12 championship with a 26-11 win over Oklahoma in the Bedlam series at Stillwater on Friday to earn the conference’s spot in the National Duals.

The Cowboys made the long trip to Ithaca on Sunday and not only beat No. 15 Cornell 32-12, but added a huge individual win when No. 16 Nolan Boyd knocked off top-ranked Gabe Dean 14-9 at 184, handing the returning NCAA champion his first loss of the season, ending a 52-bout win streak.

No. 5 Missouri (12-1) wrapped up the Mid-American Conference with a 26-14 win at Northern Illinois, finishing 8-0 in the conference for the second straight season. No. 6 Lehigh, ended its EIWA and clinched the conference’s spot at national dual with a convincing 32-8 win over American.

No. 8 Michigan picked up a pair of Big Ten wins on its East Coast swing, downing Maryland 33-6 and Rutgers 27-12. Rutgers led the Wolverines 16-10 with three bouts to go, but Michigan responded with a technical fall by Domenic Abounader at 184 and pins by Max Huntley (197) and Adam Coon (285) to win going away.
