Humphrey, Perry compete at Sargsyan Cup in Armenia on Sunday

YEREVAN, Armenia – Two U.S. wrestlers competed in men’s freestyle on the second day of the Stepan Sargsyan Cup on Saturday.
2015 U.S. World Team member Reece Humphrey (Columbus, Ohio/New York AC/Ohio RTC) went 1-1 at 61 kg/134 lbs.
Humphrey opened with a first-period pin over Narek Sanoyan of Armenia, who was a Military World silver medalist in 2014. He hit a duck under for a takedown and put Sanoyan to his back for the fall.
In his second match, he fell to Timor Aytkulov of Kazakhstan, 3-15. Aytkulov was unable to reach the finals, which knocked Humphrey out of the tournament.
Richard Perry (Philadelphia, Pa./New York AC/Pennsylvania RTC) dropped his only match of the tournament at 86 kg/189 lbs., falling by tech. fall to Vladislov Valiev of Russia.
The U.S. had a pair of medalists at the tournament on Saturday, with David Taylor taking a gold medal at 74 kg/163 lbs. and Wynn Michalak taking a bronze at 97 kg/213 lbs.
