Young named Outstanding Wrestler of FILA Cadets Greco event

AKRON, Ohio – Timothy Young of Illinois turned in an impressive finals performance.

 

And was rewarded with the Outstanding Wrestler at the FILA Cadet Nationals Greco-Roman competition on Friday at the University of Akron Field House

 

Young defeated Samuel Colbray 13-4 to win the title at 85 kg/187.25 lbs.

 

Champions in all the weight classes, except 125 kg, qualify for the FILA Cadet World Championships on July 15-20 in Snina, Slovakia.

 

Champions in the FILA Cadet classes of 69 kg and 85 kg will be considered for the Youth Olympic Games on Aug. 25-27 in Nanjing, China.

 

Dack Punke of Illinois also had a strong tournament. He knocked off 2013 Cadet World bronze medalist Cade Olivas of California 3-2 in the finals at 46 kg/101.25 lbs.

Utah’s Taylor LaMont made his second straight Cadet World Team. LaMont defeated California’s Jaden Enriquez 1-1 in the finals.

 

Washington's Tate Orndorff earned a 9-2 win over Iowa's Jake Marnin in the heavyweight finals. Marnin captured a USA Wrestling Triple Crown in Cadets in 2013.
