Top NYC High School wrestlers to compete in NYC Mayor's Cup on Dec. 20

New York City — New York City’s top high school wrestlers from the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL), Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) and independent schools will compete for the title of “Best in the City” at the 2014–15 NYC Mayor’s Cup Wrestling Championships. The event will take place on Saturday, December 20, at Riverbank State Park, located at 679 Riverside Drive (at 145th Street) in Manhattan. The championship matches begin at 4pm, and admission is free.
The 2014–15 NYC Mayor’s Cup Wrestling Championships will feature the City’s best 240 high school wrestlers. The winners and runners-up from each weight class will represent New York City on December 21 as they take on the top high school wrestlers from New Jersey, upstate New York and Long Island at Madison Square Garden as part of the Grapple at the Garden wrestling event.

The 2014–15 NYC Mayor’s Cup season encompasses 10 sporting events throughout the year and is produced by NYC & Company, the City’s marketing, tourism and partnership organization. The series showcases student athletes of all ages from across the five boroughs as they compete to prove they are New York City’s best at baseball, basketball, chess, cricket, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, track & field and wrestling.
