New York AC International to feature many top nations in New York City, Nov. 7-9

The New York Athletic Club International, the first major international event of the new season held on U.S. soil, is set for Nov. 7-9 in New York, N.Y.
This popular event will feature all three Olympic styles of wrestling, and will be held at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan.
So far, a dozen nations have notified USA Wrestling that they will have entries: Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Honduras, Korea, Moldova, Mongolia, Peru and Russia. In addition, a large number of top U.S. Senior-level wrestlers are expected to participate. Athletes from other nations may attend as well.
So far, a sample of the preliminary international field includes:
- 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Ruslan Tyumbenbaev of Kyrgyzstan in Greco-Roman at 66 kg/145.5 lbs.
- 2009 World silver medalist and 2013 World bronze medalist Burmaa Ochirbat of Mongolia in women's freestyle at 72 kg/158.5 lbs.
- 2012 World University champion Danior Islamov of Moldova in Greco-Roman at 60 kg/132 lbs.
- 2012 World University champion and 2012 Junior World champion Yuki Irie of Japan in women's freestyle
- 2013 World University Games silver medalist Samat Nadyrbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan in men's freestyle at 55 kg/121 lbs.
Many other World-level athletes will be in the field. The New York AC International traditionally in a proving ground for international competitors and is a popular event for athletes from many nations.
The Greco-Roman and women's freestyle competition is set for Friday, November 8, with the men's freestyle competition set for Saturday, November 9.
ATTENTION ALL ATHLETES: Per FILA regulations, all competitors are required to have FILA licenses prior to competing in FILA events. FILA licenses are valid for one (1) calendar year. If you purchased a FILA license in 2013, please bring proof of 2013 FILA license to registration.
Athletes from the United States who have not purchased a FILA license in 2013 must contact Jaimie McNab (jmcnab@usawrestling.org) at USA Wrestling to purchase a FILA license. You will need to submit a headshot, copy of your passport, and credit card information. Cost is $110-115, depending on the exchange rate on the day of purchase. Please note that purchasing a license on-site at the event will cost twice the regular amount.
A 2013 FILA License along with current USA Wrestling membership will be required. In order to purchase USA Wrestling membership please log into www.usawmembership.com
Online registration is $40. The deadline for online registration for U.S. athletes through TrackWrestling is Wednesday, November 6 at 6:00 p.m. Central Time. Onsite registration is available for $50.
