USA Wrestling’s Folkstyle Tour of America Series kicks off in Spokane, Wash., Nov. 22-23

The first event in USA Wrestling’s Folkstyle Tour of America will be held this weekend, and provides an opportunity for youth wrestlers across the nation to compete at a high quality folkstyle event as part of a successful and popular series.

The Northwest Bigfoot Battle will be held at the Spokane Convention Center in Spokane, Wash., on November 22-23. This is a new venue for this event, which will help improve and expand the event from previous years.

The one-day tournament that will feature the following age divisions:
• BANTAMS (Age: Born 2006-2007)
Weight Classes: 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 75+ (15 lbs. max difference)
• *BANTAMS - TRUE BEGINNERS (Age: Born 2006-2007)
Weight Classes: N/A
• INTERMEDIATES (Age: Born 2004-2005)
Weight Classes: 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 87, 95, 103, 112, 120, 120+ (20 lbs. max difference)
• *INTERMEDIATES - TRUE BEGINNERS (Age: Born 2004-2005)
Weight Classes: N/A
• NOVICES (Age: Born 2002-2003)
Weight Classes: 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 112, 120, 130, 140, 140+ (25 lbs. max difference)
• *NOVICE TRUE BEGINNERS (Age: Born 2002-2003)
Weight Classes: N/A
• MIDDLE SCHOOL (Age: Born 1999-2001 (plus enrolled in grades 6-8))
Weight Classes: 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 120, 128, 136, 144, 152, 160, 175, 190, 210, 265
• *MIDDLE SCHOOL TRUE BEGINNERS (Age: Born 1999-2001 (plus enrolled in grades 6-8))
Weight Classes: N/A
*TRUE BEGINNERS ARE DEFINED AS HAVING ACTIVELY COMPETED IN THE SPORT OF WRESTLING FOR LESS THAN TWO (2) YEARS.

The next event in the series, the King of the Mountain, will be held at the Douglas County Events Center in Castle Rock, Colo., on December 6-7. A dual competition between invited teams will take place on Friday, with the first True Beginner divisions taking place later that night.
There are three other events in the Tour of America, all of which will be held in early 2014: Salt Lake Slam (January 2-4 in Heber City, Utah), Georgia Grind (February 8-9 in College Park, Ga.) and Dominate in the Dells (March 21-22 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisc.).
