Russell, Dake, Foster, Rey secure USA victory over Russia 4-3

The United States turned the tables against the Russian’s in the second of two freestyle duals between the two wrestling powers as the U.S. came away with a 4-3 victory in Ithaca, N.Y.
Winners for the United States were Kellen Russell at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Kyle Dake at 74 kg/163 lbs., Clayton Foster at 84 kg/185 lbs. and Zach Rey at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.
American Kellen Russell won by far the most entertaining match of the contest. Tied at 11 late in the bout Russell secured a two point tilt followed by a pin over Russia’s Alibeggadzhi Emeev with :03 left in the match.
Russell’s victory marked the first in the dual for the United States as Frank Perrelli and Jimmy Kennedy were downed by Russian opponents in the first two bouts, both by technical fall.
Hometown hero Kyle Dake won a tight battle of pushouts over Russian Boris Makoev 2-1 tying up the team score at two matches apiece.
At 84 kg/185 lbs. Clayton Foster impressively handled Russian Vladislav Gabaraev securing a 9-1 technical fall.
Georgii Gogaev of Russia exacted revenge of a loss at the NYAC International to American Cam Simaz at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. Gogaev won the bout by a first period technical fall 9-0.
With the dual tied a three matches each American Zach Rey delivered the deciding blow. icing his Russian opponent Aleksandr Kusraev 2-0.
The USA avenged a loss to the Russian team from Nov. 16 in Clifton Park, N.Y. by the final tally of 4-3.
