Waterloo Bucks to host Wrestling Night on Aug. 8

WATERLOO, Iowa -- The Waterloo Bucks baseball team will recognize the oldest sport in the world during its game on Thursday, Aug. 8. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum is hosting "Wrestling Night" during the Bucks' game against the Battle Creek Bombers. The game begins at 6:35 p.m.
Jim Miller, Tolly Thompson, Kyven Gadson, and Ryan Loder will be recognized before the game. There will also be an on-field wrestling demonstration.
"The Cedar Valley has the greatest wrestling tradition in the world" said Kyle Klingman, director of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. "We are honored that the Waterloo Bucks are letting us showcase this tradition with a special night for the sport of wrestling."
A native of Waterloo, Miller recently retired as the head wrestling coach at Wartburg College. He led the Knights to 10 NCAA team championships and 21 consecutive Iowa Conference championships. Thompson, a native of Janesville, is currently an assistant wrestling coach at Northern Iowa. He was recently inducted into the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Gadson was an All-American for Iowa State at the 2013 NCAA wrestling championships. Gadson was a state champion for Waterloo East High School in 2009 and 2010. A native of Granite Bay, Calif., Loder was an All-American for Northern Iowa at the 2013 NCAA wrestling championships.
