Elena Pirozhkova and Mike Powell will go On the Mat this Wednesday, February 15.
On the Mat is a presentation of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. The show can be heard live on the Internet at www.kcnzam.com or locally in Northeast Iowa each Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM Central on AM 1650, The Fan.

Each week "On the Mat" will interview an Olympic wrestling hopeful leading up to the Olympic Trials in Iowa City on April 21-22. This week's interview is with Elena Pirozhkova.
Pirozhkova will compete at the 138.75 pound weight class at the Olympic Trials. Pirozhkova, winner of the 2011 U.S. Open and a four-time World team member, placed second at the World Championships in 2010.
Powell was the subject of a feature-length article that ran in the Feb. 13, 2012, issue of Sports Illustrated. Powell, an All-American at Indiana in 1996, coaches wrestling at Oak Park River Forest High School in Illinois. He suffers from a muscle wasting disease called polymyositis.
