Russia wins European Championships in freestyle with four champions

DORTMUND, Germany - Russia won the team title at the 2011 European Wrestling Championships in freestyle, led by four individual champions.
Capturing gold medals for Russia were Djamal Ottarsultanov at 55 kg/121 lbs., Opan Sat at 60 kg/132 lbs., Denis Tsargush at 74 kg/163 lbs. and Anzor Urishev at 84 kg/185 lbs.
Sat, Tsargush and Urishev were also European champions in 2010.
Russia also had a silver medalist and a bronze medalist. Russia is the reigning World champions in freestyle wrestling.
Other individual champions were Yabrail Hasanov of Azerbaijan at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Khetag Gazumov of Azerbaijan at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. and Fatih Cakiroglu of Turkey at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. Hasanov and Gazumov both defended their European titles.
The freestyle tournament was held on Tuesday and Wednesday. The women's freestyle is set for Thursday and Friday. Greco-Roman will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
