FLASH: Iowa wins six of 10 bouts to defeat Illinois in Iowa City

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- No. 1 Iowa won six of the 10 matches, including the last two bouts of the dual, to stop Big Ten rival No. 7 Illinois, 20-13 in their opening conference dual meet on Friday.
Illinois took a 13-12 lead in the eighth bout of the dual when No. 9 Jesse Delgado defeated No. 1 Matt McDonough, 11-7 in overtime. Delgado took McDonough to his back in sudden death to win the match.
The host Hawkeyes fired up the crowd of 7,330 in the final two bouts when No. 3 Tony Ramos defeated No. 2 B.J.Futrell at 133 pounds with a 13-5 major decision.
No. 3 Montell Marion closed out the win with an 11-2 major decision at 141 pounds to seal the victory.
