We are expecting an exciting season full of drama and outstanding performances. The nation's best wrestlers are busy training and competing, in preparation for the 2009 World Wrestling Championships in Herning, Denmark, Sept. 21-27.
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS: The World Team Trials, presented by the U.S. Marines will be held at the MidAmerica Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, May 30-31. This is a must-attend event and we encourage you to make plans to be there. This event determines which athletes will represent the United States at the 2009 World Championships in Denmark.
Among the other key events to cover this year are:
- ASICS Folkstyle National Championships, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, April 3-5 - This event features the best young wrestlers in the nation, competing for national titles in the American-style of wrestling. This is a growing event in size and prestige.
- 2009 U.S. National Championships, in Las Vegas, Nev., April 7-11 - In addition to crowning national champions in the three Olympic styles, this is the most important qualifying event for the World Team Trials.
- ASICS/Vaughan Junior Nationals and Accelerade Cadet Nationals, Fargo, N.D., July 18-25 - The world's largest wrestling event, this annual spectacular features the nation's top Cadet and Junior athletes competing for national honors.
