Grand Valley State leads Marion Military by ½ point after day one of NCWA Nationals

HAMPTON, VA. - Grand Valley State is out front by a half-point after the first two rounds of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association's national tournament at the Hampton University Convocation Center.

The Lakers earned 34 points, just ahead of Marion Military Academy (Marion, Ala.) with 33.5 points and The Apprentice School (Newport News, Va.) with 31 points.

Grand Valley qualified 22 wrestlers to the tournament, which consists of student-sponsored and school-sponsored collegiate programs from around the nation competing in one division.

Twelve of Grand Valley's 22 moved on to the second rounds.

Friday's wrestling begins at 9 am with consolation matchups while the championship quarterfinals are scheduled for 5 pm. The national championship matches are Saturday at 4 pm.
