Cumberlands wins Can-Am Invite in women’s college action, held at Jamestown College

JAMESTOWN, N.D. - The Univ. of the Cumberlands, led by two individual champions, edged Oklahoma City Univ. by eight-and-a-half team points to win the first ever Can-Am Invitational, hosted by Jamestown College.
A total of 10 teams from the United States and Canada participated in the event.
Individual champions for the Cumberlands were Ashley Shannon at 44 kg/97 lbs. and Lauren Knight at 67 kg/147.5 lbs.
Oklahoma City was led by champions Leanne Barney at 51 kg/112.25 lbs., Michaela Hutchison at 55 kg/121 lbs. and Brittany Delgado (OCU) at 95 kg/209 lbs.
Simon Fraser placed third, followed by the Univ. of Regina, the Univ. of Saskatchewan and the host Jamestown College team.
This was one of the largest women's only college wrestling tournament held in North America, with over 100 participants. Jamestown College, under coach Cisco Cole, started its women's college team this season.
