COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The U.S. Olympic Committee Board of Directors agreed to give the USOC senior management team the authority to act on agreements with the City of Colorado Springs that would keep the USOC in the city for the next 30 years.
The Colorado Springs City Council will now vote on the issue Aug. 11 in a regular meeting in council chambers after the public has a chance to review the city documents on

The new $53 million agreement, if approved, would provide the USOC with the following:
* A new headquarters building at 27 South Tejon St. in downtown Colorado Springs.
* A redeveloped building at 30 Cimino Drive in downtown Colorado Springs to house certain National Governing Bodies.
* $16 million in funding to support new housing for athletes at the OTC and to enhance the Athletes Center and Visitors Center.
"We believe this new arrangement, in the form it is written, is very positive for the USOC, the National Governing Bodies housed in Colorado Springs and the City of Colorado Springs as a whole," said the USOC's acting CEO, Stephanie Streeter. "We look forward to the City Council's deliberations and hope they will approve these agreements."
