A power-packed U.S. Greco-Roman team will look to put on a show for fans during an upcoming dual meet against a combined team from South Korea and Japan.
Two-time World bronze medalist Harry Lester, World bronze medalists Lindsey Durlacher and Justin Ruiz, and Olympian Spenser Mango are expected to compete in the dual on Friday, Nov. 13 at Long Branch High School in Long Branch, N.J.
The dual is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
Lester and Mango just competed last month at the World Championships in Herning, Denmark. Ruiz is returning to the mat after taking this past season off. Ruiz made four straight U.S. World Teams from 2003-07. Durlacher placed second at the 2009 World Team Trials after making the previous three U.S. World Teams.
U.S. National Team members Jacob Curby, Jake Fisher and Cheney Haight also are scheduled to compete.
All the U.S. wrestlers compete for the New York Athletic Club.
"This is a great event that will showcase the athletes we support through the Medal Fund," said Noel Thompson, chairman of the New York AC. "America needs wrestling and it's great to have the caliber of multiple World medalists and Olympians competing against Korea and Japan. It's probably over a decade since the Korean delegation has come to the East Coast. Long Branch High School has some of the best wrestling in New Jersey.
"The folks by the Jersey shore and the Tri-State area are going to be in for treat on Friday, November 13th."
Thompson said there are 14 bouts scheduled for the night. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for kids.
