ORLANDO, Fla. - Last week, the U.S. Marine Corps athletic directors held their annual conference, and wanted an inspirational speaker to get the meetings off to a strong start. This year, they brought in one of the greatest U.S. Marine Corps athletes of all time, World freestyle wrestling champion Lloyd Keaser.
TheMat.com interviewed Keaser after his inspiring speech, and learned about his career on the mat, in the U.S. Marine Corps and in the business world.
Keaser won a gold medal at the 1973 World Freestyle Championships in Tehran, Iran. He was a silver medalist at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Canada. Keaser also won World Cup and CISM Military Games gold medals in his career. He was an two-time All-American and three-time EIWA champion at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Keaser is a Distinguished Member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, as well as the U.S. Marine Corps Sports Hall of Fame.
