FILA adds 50 kg weight class for Senior Women's Grappling

Further to several complaints addressed to FILA by light female athletes, the World Grappling Committee accepted to reconsider its decision and re-instate a light female category of 50kg.
Although that category was the least frequented in the past events, the World Grappling Committee members admitted that its cancellation would hinder lighter athletes's career and have discriminatory consequences on the long run.
The new weight classes for Grappling on the Senior level are:
Men: 60 kg, 66 kg, 74 kg, 84 kg, 96 kg, 120kg, Open
Women: 50 kg, 55 kg, 59 kg, 63 kg, 67 kg, Open
The updated regulations have been posted in the "FILA Regulations" section and can also be downloaded at:
