NATIONAL WRESTLING LEADERS JOIN FORCES DURING MEETING AT FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES WORLD HEADQUARTERS

Task force of wrestling leaders created with hopes
to launch FCA Wrestling as an FCA National Sports Ministry

(Kansas City, Mo.) - Many of the nation's top wrestling leaders assembled at FCA's World Headquarters to brainstorm and discuss the national launch of FCA Wrestling, a new addition to the eight sports programs already established as part of the FCA National Sports Ministries.

The two-day meeting, which was held September 9-10 in Kansas City, Missouri, brought together representatives and leaders from USA Wrestling, the National Wrestling Coaches Association and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Also included in the discussion were former NCAA champions and Olympians, an active Olympic hopeful, current college and high school coaches, and FCA national leaders.

During the meeting, a task force, chaired by USA Wrestling Executive Director Rich Bender, was created to move forward with the initiative to recruit a national leadership board to oversee the program. Once the Board is established, it will be tasked to hire a national director, and begin fundraising for the new ministry of FCA Wrestling.

The Task Force had a follow-up conference call on September 16, and has begun its work on behalf of FCA Wrestling.

"The wrestling community in the United States is excited about the plans to develop FCA Wrestling," said Bender. "The Task Force is committed to laying a strong foundation for the development of this program, which will impact the sport of wrestling and many of those who participate in our sport."

"Beginning FCA Wrestling provides an opportunity for FCA to see the world of wrestling impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of wrestlers and coaches," said Tim Johnson of FCA, who is responsible for the launch of this initiative.

Task Force members encourage those within the wrestling community who have an interest in being leaders within FCA Wrestling to contact them.
