OLIVET, MI - On October 4, 2008, the Olivet College wrestling program will dedicate the new Jare Klein wrestling room in the college's recently finished Cutler Event Center. A morning golf outing, followed by a 12:30 p.m. luncheon and dedication ceremony will take place in honor of the legendary Olivet College coach, who retired in 2001 after 33 seasons of the leading the Comet program.
"As a wrestling program, we are so grateful to be able to dedicate this outstanding new wrestling room in the name of the all-time NCAA Division III coaching wins leader," said current Olivet College head coach Todd Hibbs. "The lives that Coach Klein touched include literally thousands of people - from his own student-athletes to opponents and opposing coaches, and even folks outside the wrestling community. Now, even those who came after Jare's tenure at Olivet College will be reminded of his accomplishments."
Klein coached at Olivet College from 1968 - 2001, and recorded 569 dual meet wins, against just 116 losses and three ties. His win total ranks second all-time in the NCAA, regardless of division, and is the best ever in NCAA Division III. Klein has previously been inducted into the Olivet College Hall of Fame, the NCAA Division III Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Michigan Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
