The Trials will be held June 13-15, 2008 at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and will feature contests in each of the 14 Olympic judo weight divisions as well as the 18 Olympic wrestling weight classes in the three Olympic styles (men's freestyle, men's Greco-Roman, women's freestyle) to be contested at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Judo will be contested on June 13-14 and wrestling will be contested all three days.
"Wrestling fans, and anybody interested in Olympic sports, are encouraged to join us at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Wrestling and Judo in Las Vegas," said Rich Bender, USA Wrestling Executive Director. "The competition will be outstanding as we select our 2008 U.S. Olympic Teams. Those who can't attend all three days of the Olympic Trials can still purchase individual session tickets and be part of this historic weekend."
With eight athletes expected to compete in the Trials for each weight division, as many as 112 judo players will be eligible for berths on the U.S. Olympic Team. USA Wrestling expects almost 200 wrestlers to participate in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
"We are pleased to see Las Vegas Events making single session tickets available to our members," said USA Judo CEO Jose H. Rodriguez. "The response for the all session tickets surpassed our expectations and now with the single ticket program I am sure we will once again hit record numbers. This is an event that any judo or grappling fan will not want to miss."
Each day will feature two sessions, with Finals being held each evening. The first day of competition will include Greco-Roman (55kg and 60kg) and women's freestyle wrestling (48kg, 55kg, 63kg and 72 kg) as well as four men's judo weight divisions (66kg, 90kg, 100kg and +100kg) and three women's weight divisions (52kg, 63kg and 70kg).
