Final seven freestyle qualifiers advance to Olympic Trials with wins at Rocky Mountain Regional Olympic Trials

PUEBLO, COLO. - The final seven qualifying spots at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials were determined at the "Last Chance" event, the Rocky Mountain Regional Olympic Trials held at CSU-Pueblo on Saturday.
Among the champions were 2007 U.S. Nationals champion Nate Gallick (Chattanooga, Tenn./Sunkist Kids) at 60 kg/132 lbs. and five-time U.S. Nationals runner-up Steve Mocco (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.
Gallick scored a 6-0, 8-0 victory over Tony Mustari of Northern Colorado Wrestling, 6-0, 8-0. Gallick had not yet qualified, as he did not compete in the U.S. Nationals in order to wrestle in an Olympic Qualifying Tournament in April.
Mocco won his second Olympic Regional Trials of the season with a victory over Mike Faust (Iowa City, Iowa/Hawkeye Wrestling Club), 2-0, 6-0.
In a competitive finals match at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Joe Johnston (Iowa City, Iowa /Hawkeye Wrestling Club) needed three periods to defeat Josh Churella (Ann Arbor, Mich./NYAC), 1-3, 4-0, 6-0.
Among the champions was Colorado native Michael Martinez (Pagosa Springs, Colo./Cowboy WC), who defeated Michael Watts (Ann Arbor, Mich./Cliff Keen) in the finals at 55 kg/121 lbs., 0-2, 5-4, 5-0.
Other individual champions were Travis Koppenhafer (Sunkist Kids) at 74 kg/163 lbs., Tyrel Todd (Ann Arbor, Mich./NYAC) at 84 kg/185 lbs. and Sean Stender, (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Sunkist Kids) at 96 kg/211.5 lbs.
