Greco-Roman team misses out on medals in second day at FILA Junior Worlds

None of the four U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers competing at the 2008 FILA Junior World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey were able to medal in the second day of competition.
Jimmy Chase had the best performance for the U.S. Squad, beating his first opponent, Artem Roitman of Israel, before falling to Nurbek Uktamov of Uzbekistan. Chase finished 13th at 55 kg/121 lbs.
Heavyweight Peter Kowalczuk (Oak Park, Ill./Sunkist Kids/USOEC) lost his first round match-up to Irza Kayaalp of Turkey. Kayaalp made the finals, giving Kowalczuk the opportunity to wrestleback. Kowalczuk lost in the first round of wrestlebacks to Ramin Shakarishvili of Georgia.
Bo Beckman (Orem, Utah/USOEC) and Zach Nielsen (Zimmerman, Minn./Minnesota Storm) both lost their first match of the day and did not have the opportunity to wrestleback. Beckman lost to Havder Kareem Hasan of Irag at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. and Nielsen was defeated by Robert Papp of Romania at 84 kg/185 lbs.
The first four wrestlers for the U.S. women's freestyle team have weighed in and received their draws for competition on Thursday, July 31.
