USA Wrestling has updated its new "Bout of the Week" which has been posted as a video file on-line on TheMat.com Audio/Video website .
This week's match features young USA Wrestling stars Jesse Thielke of Wisconsin and Clark Glass of Florida. Thielke edged Glass 5-4 in the Cadet 119-pound finals on April 5 at the ASICS/USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Thielke, a past Triple Crown winner in the Schoolboy division, scored a quick early takedown with a body lock and trip en route to taking control. The lead grew to 5-0 late in the second period when Thielke countered a shot attempt by Glass and eventually won a scramble near the edge of the mat.
Glass, who owns numerous USA Wrestling national titles, escaped in the closing seconds of the second period to draw within 5-1. Thielke nearly turned Glass in the third period before Glass eventually came back to gain a reversal with just under a minute left. Glass tried valiantly to turn Thielke and picked up a stalling point late in the match, but ended up a point short.
Thielke won Folkstyle Nationals after placing second at the event in 2007. He won Cadet Nationals in Greco-Roman in 2007 and placed second in freestyle. He won USA Wrestling's Ultimate Dominator Award in 2007.
This popular feature will be changed on a regular basis, allowing members to enjoy many of the greatest matches in wrestling history. Many other entertaining and historic matches are in the archive section for the Bout of the Week.
