USA Wrestling has begun the process to select their candidates to serve as coaches for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Teams in wrestling.

Under consideration are coaching positions for the U.S. teams that will compete at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China in men's freestyle, men's Greco-Roman and women's freestyle wrestling.

The volunteer coaches who are selected will be included on the coaching staff at the Beijing Games, along with USA Wrestling's National Coaches in each style: Steve Fraser (Greco-Roman), Kevin Jackson (freestyle) and Terry Steiner (women's freestyle).

A letter was sent to all of the members of USA Wrestling's National Volunteer Coaches Pool, providing each of these coaches an opportunity to be considered for an Olympic Coach position.

Next week, the USA Wrestling Coach Selection Committees for each style will host a teleconference to review the coaches who have been nominated. From these conference calls, finalists will be selected in each of the three styles. USA Wrestling will announce the finalists after each committee has made its selections.

The next step will occur when each of the finalists will receive a telephone interview with their respective Coach Selection Committees.

After the interview process, each Coach Selection Committee will select the coaches which the committee recommends for the Olympic coaching positions.

USA Wrestling's Executive Committee will then meet to approve the selections of each Coach Selection Committee. The decision of the Executive Committee will be forwarded to the U.S. Olympic Committee for final approval as USA Wrestling's nominees for the Olympic Coach positions.

USA Wrestling will announce its nominees after they receive approval from the Executive Committee.

USA Wrestling expects its Olympic Coach selection process to be completed by mid-November.
