U.S. wrestlers draw first round opponents at Yarygin International in Russia

KRASNOYARSK, RUSSIA - The first set of U.S. wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws at the Ivan Yarygin International Championships in the Siberian City of Krasnoyarsk.

The tournament is named in honor of the late Ivan Yargyin, a World and Olympic freestyle champion, Soviet National Coach and former president of the Russian Wrestling Federation. Yarygin was a native of Krasnoyarsk.

A team of talented U.S. freestyle wrestlers have entered this annual competition, considered one of the world's most challenging. Coaching the U.S. athletes are USA Wrestling National Freestyle Coach Kevin Jackson and USA Wrestling Freestyle Resident Coach Terry Brands.

According to Jackson, here are the first draws for the Americans:

55 kg/121 lbs. - Henry Cejudo, Colorado Springs, Colo. (Sunkist Kids)
First round bye
vs. Artur Mamadaliev (Russia)
Note: If Cejudo gets past Mamadaliev, he could draw 2006 World silver medalist Besik Kudukov of Russia in the following round.

66 kg/145.5 lbs. - Jared Frayer, Colorado Springs, Colo. (Gator WC)
vs. Bo (China)
Note: If Frayer defeats Bo, he would face the winner of Andrey Sementsov of Russia vs. Anzor Baltukayev of Russia.

66 kg/145.5 lbs. - Zack Esposito, Stillwater, Okla. (Gator WC)
vs. Artysh Tambulak (Russia)
Note: If Esposito wins, he would face the winner of Alan Dudayev of Russia vs. Noruzbek Belekov of Kyrgyzstan

84 kg/185 lbs. - Andy Hrovat, Ann Arbor, Mich. (New York AC)
First round bye
Note: Hrovat could face Balktukayev of Russia in the second round

84 kg/185 lbs. - Lee Fullhart, Colorado Springs, Colo. (Gator WC)
First round bye
Note: Fullhart will compete against a Russian athlete, then could see Hrovat in an early round if both continue winning

84 kg/185 lbs. - Tyrone Lewis, Oklahoma City, Okla. (Gator WC)
vs. Yunbilige (China)
Note: If Lewis wins, his second match is against the winner of Katsoyev of Russia and Albert Saritov of Russia. Saritov is the returning Yarygin International champion at this weight class.

120 kg/264.5 lbs. - Tommy Rowlands, Columbus, Ohio (Sunkist Kids)

Note: Rowlands first opponent will either be from Russia or Kazakhstan.

Notes: If Faust wins, his next opponent is the winner of Ashat Kusepov of Kazakhstan vs. Chumilin of Russia.
