New for the 2007-08 wrestling season at Oklahoma State is the Off the Mat series, which provides fans with an insider's take into what makes members of the Oklahoma State wrestling team tick. This week's installment highlights Cowboy 165-pounder and reigning Big 12 Wrestler of the Week Jake Dieffenbach, who sports a perfect 5-0 record that includes two wins over ranked opponents heading into next Tuesday's Reno Tournament of Champions:

I chose to attend Oklahoma State because: Coming here gives me the best chance to win.

If I would describe myself as a wrestler, I would say: I'm deceptive.

If I were to describe myself as a person, I would say: I'm quiet and laid-back.

I would describe John Smith: As being intense on the mat and having a good sense of humor off of it.

My favorite thing about being in Stillwater is: The wrestling.

My favorite thing about being a wrestler at Oklahoma State is: Being part of the winningest program in college sports.

If I was talking to someone who didn't know about wrestling and they asked me about the Oklahoma State wrestling program, I would say: It's the New York Yankees of amateur sports.

I have been told that I look like: Nathan Morgan.

If I could compete in any other sport besides wrestling, it would be: Baseball.

The thing that inspires me when I compete is: Winning.

The proudest moment of my life so far was: Winning NAIA Nationals twice.

When I'm not wrestling or in school, I enjoy: Fishing and four-wheeling.
